“God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12so that when the handkerchiefs or aprons that had touched his skin were brought to the sick, their diseases left them, and the evil spirits came out of them.” ( Acts 19:11-12)
The church’s theme for the year 2024
Extraordinary Miracles, being taken from Acts 19:11-12, is a sign that the Lord of the Church, Jesus Christ has never stopped to show and demonstrate His love for His children.
When the Lord speaks of extra-ordinary miracles He did through Apostle Paul, He will hasten to perform them for He can never lie (Number 23:19). However, a lot still depends on the people spoken to because if the words of God must come to pass, then the people have their part to play too (Deut.28:1- 2; Isaiah1:19; John11:40; John15:7).
Furthermore, it is a known fact that even when it is clear that with God, all things are possible, most of the time He will use His creation to make His words come to manifestation. Therefore, for God’s word for His church to become reality, the church workers would be vessels through which the changes and new things He would do must come to pass. Given this, every church worker must see him/herself as an agent through whom the spoken “Extraordinary Miracle” would become life to the church and by extension those that are connected to her one way or the other. It is in this light that in this teaching, I will be reminding you of who a church worker is, the Expectations from an effective church worker; and how the church workers would be agents of miracles in the church.
Why Is a Church Worker?
A Christian church worker is the servant of God (2 Kings 3:11; Exodus17:8-9, 24:13). He is a co-labourer together with the pastor in the church of God (2cor.6:1). The work of God in the church cannot be successfully done by canal minded church members. It takes those who are possessed by the spirit of God to do the work of God profitably and successfully. This is because except the Lord works in a person, he/she cannot work for God. For emphasis, except the work of grace is accomplished in a person’s heart, he cannot be a servant in God’s vineyard.
Therefore, a Christian church worker is a servant in the household of God, who must be obedient and fruitful, who must not be lazy or slothful in his/her spiritual assignment in the church of God (John 5:17). When you are born again by giving your life to Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you are to take your commitment to Christ very seriously. You will then be able to follow Him by living a life of fellowship, holiness, study, and service in the vineyard.
Expectations from an Effective Church Worker
- A church worker must be born again.
- A church worker must be spirit-filled always.

How the Church Workers Would Be Agents of Miracles in the Church
- He / She must be a Christian to become a church worker. This comes with the knowledge that the church is a gathering of Christians who may worship and perform their services to God in a building. To be a Christian is to be born again. (John 3:1-7; Romans 10:8-13). The encounter the Apostles had with Jesus made them the change agents that brought Christianity to virtually all the corners of the world. The drastic change in the life of Apostle Paul after his encounter with the Lord Jesus turned him into an effective change agent for the gospels and its effectiveness to the world. 3
- Live a life of holiness (Isaiah 52:11). This was the backbone of the early church movement. The church worker must flee from all appearances of evil. (Ephesians 4:27). You can break your fallow grounds and stand up for righteousness (Hosea 10:12).
- Must be a man or woman of faith. Have what I call Abraham’s faith. Hear how Apostle Paul described him and the result of his miracle in Romans 4:18- 24. Joshua and Caleb’s faith in God who will always be faithful to His Promises made them outstanding among those sent to explore the promised land for the Israelites (Numbers 13:10)
- Must be a man or woman of courage (Joshua 1:7-9). The effective leadership of Joshua was anchored on this. He took the courage to lead the people of Israel.
- Love for the word of God. Let the word of God be your daily compass and be a doer (Joshua 1:8; Acts 1:1). Luke recorded Jesus and His effective ministry about what He taught and did.
- Holy Ghost Baptism (Acts 1:8; 2:1-12, 41-47; 10:44-48; 19:1-7,11-12).
- Team life. This means a life of cooperation among church workers. They should not be in a position to compete but to cooperate. The team as an acronym would mean ‘Together Each Achieve More’. Remember unity and cooperation among brethren is the gateway to blessings and power miracles (Psalm 133). Also, the enemy of the people of God would be defeated through cooperation. (Exodus 17:10-13; Ecc.4:9-12).
- Christian family life must be lived. The home must be peaceful for the outside to have meaning so says the Yoruba adage.
- Live a life of prayer (Acts 4:23-31; 12:5; 2 Cor.10:3-5). Most signs, wonders, and miracles in the New Testament are the results of prayers.
- By giving. The work of God would move further where workers and members are cheerful givers (Acts 2:44-47).
- The ministers, workers, and members must be focused on the vision. Nothing should discourage us from backing out (Habakkuk 2:3). We should continually trust God that He would be faithful to His promises (1Thes. 5:24; Jer.17:7-8).
- Life of Obedience: The person must be an obedient worker who is also ready to learn more all the time. He must also teach the obedience. (Is. 1:19; Deut. 28:1-13).
- You must arise and shine (Isaiah 60:1-3) and realize that the whole world is waiting for your glory and unstoppable manifestation (Rom. 8:19).
- Do your work diligently (I Cor. 14:40; Rom. 12:11)
- Do your work with humility (I Thes. 4:11-12; Phill. 2:3-11) VI.
Conclusion
Matthew21:28-31. If the minds are in agreement with the words received by the Pastor for his church, then nothing will stop you from manifesting extraordinary miracles this year in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Amen)
