Read Exodus 14:9-15
Exodus 14:14(KJV) says, “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace”. What God said then through his servant Moses is still very real now because our God is still the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). He has never lied and cannot lie and His words will come to pass (Numbers23:19; Isaiah 55:11). The world is a place of battles. Individuals, families, and nations are all engaged and still being engaged in battles of diverse forms over time and space for various purposes such as freedom. It takes only the help of God Almighty to win all battles of life because victory is of the Lord. (Proverbs 21:31).
Exodus 14 revealed that the nation of Israel was ungrateful to God despite the 10 wondrous acts of God in Egypt that led to their freedom from captivity. They cried unto God than in the land of slavery and the Lord of Hosts heard the cry and intervened towards their deliverance (Exodus 2:23-25). However, the challenges of the Red Sea and Pharaoh’s army made them forget what God did for their release in Egypt, to the extent that they complained bitterly and were full of words of regret and defeat(Exodus 14:5-12):
‘And they said unto Moses because there were no grades in lig) hast thou have taken us away to die in the wilderness? Wherefore hast thou dealt thus with us, to carry us for thou of Egypt? Is not this the word that we did tell thee in Egypt, saying, let us alone, that we may serve the Egyptians? “For it would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than that we should die in the wilderness.”
Stop uttering words of defeat when you are being faced with challenges or in a battle of any kind for you will possess what you confess (Numbers 14:28). However, remember God’s deeds in the past in your life always, thank him for the more and call on Him to fight for you Jeremiah 33:3; Psalm 35:1-2). God is ever ready to fight any battle for His children till they emerge in glory and victory. Brethren, are you among those whom God will fight for?
1. God fights for His children.
In Exodus 14, God fought for Israel because He saw them as His children. He referred to Israel as His firstborn son, thus He fought for them (Exodus 4:21- 23). We all need to be God’s children to enjoy this right. Except you accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour, you will never see Him fighting on your behalf. Whosoever accepts Jesus Christ as Lord becomes the son of God (John 1:12). Are you a child of God? If not, kindly surrender your life to HimNOW and confess His lordship (Romans 10:8-11).
2. Those who obey God.
Abraham was a good example who obeyed God and left all following God’s leading to a new place (Genesis 12:1-4). In Genesis 20:1-8, KingAbimelech took Abraham’s wife, Sarah to be his wife. God fought on behalf of Abraham because of his obedience to the extent that God referred to him as a prophet.
Sarah was restored to Abraham due to God’s intervention. God did not allow Abraham to be ridiculed by King Abimelech. Are you going through a battle that might move you into the ridiculous, make sure you are obedient to God and cry unto Him to experience the miraculous. Abraham won other battles he remained obedient to God because God was with him and fought for him(Genesis 14:1-17). May God give you the grace to be obedient to Him to enjoy victory in any battle. Do not use any of the positions you occupy to cheat and oppress others like King Abimelech, but do things that will give glory to God.
3. Those that receive instructions from God.
Most individuals do not seek God for instruction on issues and when challenges come, they will be left alone. This is contrary to when God is involved, for He goes to any length to fight for those who honour Him and are guided by Him. David always inquires of the Lord on anything and no wonder God fought for Him severally (1 Samuel 23:1-5;1 Samuel 30:1-8). Brethren, let us all learn to always commune with God and receive instructions from Him so that He can fight on our behalf(Psalm 105:4).
4. The Messengers of God.
God will not allow any of His messengers or workers to be oppressed, but will rather defend their cause. This was what God did to save the life of Apostle Paul when they plotted to assassinate him (Acts 23:11-23). Several other battles that came on Paul’s way as a messenger were all settled by God. Once you are on God’s side and serve Him, He will fight for you in any battle of life. Are you on God’s side?
5. The Anointed of God.
King Saul’s life was spared by David because he was the anointed of the Lord(1 Samuel 26:5-12). God protects His anointed ones from all evil and fights promptly for them, He allows no one to oppress His anointed one (Psalm 105:12-15). David also enjoyed this same benevolence from God(Psalm 89:20-23).
6. Widows, Strangers and Orphans
Exodus 22:21-24;Zech7:10-12.Once these set of people cry unto God due to oppression, God will rise to fight their oppressors. Some do afflict their househelps thinking that no one will fight for them. Hope you are not oppressing widows, orphans and strangers within the reach of your influence. If yes, please repent and turn to God for forgiveness.
7. Those that Refused to Bow to Idols, but Stood for God (Daniel 3:14-26)
The three Hebrews did not bow to idols and God defended them in the battle with fire. What has constituted the idol (s) in your life competing with God? Allwho worship idols will be put to shame (Psalm 97:7a). Please stop bowing to them and stand for God alone so that He can fight on your behalf anytime. God can defend you.
8. The Innocent
Daniel 6:19-24.Daniel was innocent of the charges levelled against him and God who fights for the innocent fought on His behalf. Not only was he liberated, God dealt with the enemies to the point of death.
9. The upright and Just
Psalm 37:12-15; 97:11. God shall never allow His faithful ones to be ridiculed. He will fight for them and give them victory causing them to sing new songs(Exo. 15:1-6). Brethren, God is mighty in battle and once you are His, be sure that He will hear your cry in any battle and fight for you, except otherwise decide not to. Be sure that when God fights for you, victory is very sure (2 Chronicles 13:13-20).I pray that God will rise and fight for you in any battle that is challenging your life and give you outstanding victory in Jesus’ name, Amen. Hand over the battles to God as you pray, ‘Lord fight my battle(s)’
