Praises are seen as commendation while worships are the condition of being worthy. The only food that God cherishes is praise and worship. This article has discussed the reasons why God deserves our praise and worship.
1. The Power in Praise and Worship (Psalm 67: 1-7)
“May the people you, God…The land yields its harvest; God our God blesses us.” Vs 5-6
Persecutions all over the world have led people to God to lay their requests before Him and want in their expectation for answers. God listens and gives favorable answers, it is necessary therefore to appreciate and acknowledge God in praise and worship. The more you do this, the more God is delighted and pour blessings on you as a believer.
The psalmist highlights God’s goodness: He is a just God who guides nations to safety; He gives a beautiful harvest and refreshes his inheritance. He is worthy to be praised. Let His Joy be our portion always.
2. Sing Praises to God (Psalm 33: 1-9)
“ Oh Sing praises to Him a new song, play skillfully with a shout of joy…” vs 3
Praise is always directed to one who deserves all praises, the Lord Almighty. The world may be filled with evil and people may not have thought of God. But believers must look beyond the apparent confusion of the world to see God’s goodness. You should know that the goodness that manifests itself every time the sun rises, a bird sings, God holds together the earth and provides for the sustenance of all people
People of God, when we sing praises to God, we move the heart of God to reveal and manifest His awesome power and when God’s awesome power is revealed, His blessings are inevitable. Some of these blessings are:
- Open door and divine breakthroughs (Acts 16: 25-26)
- Protection from unforeseen accidents (Acts 27: 33-39)
- God’s abundant blessing and divine provisions (Matt. 14: 19; 15;36
- The attraction of God’s presence (1 King 8: 64; 9:11)
Brethren, this is your season of celebration, risen and celebration Jesus, sing praises to Him, praise Him from your heart, as you do, I can see your chains broken in Jesus’ name (Amen)
3. The Lord is Good (Psalm 27: 1-6)
“For in the time of trouble, He shall hide me in His pavilion…” vs 5
God desires to see His children always in His Tabernacle, His secret place. There is no better place to be than in the presence of God because He is good. He is the only one who can give perfect and enduring peace, joy, and comfort. The Psalmist knew this and so he desired to dwell in the presence of God forever.
Brethren, until you sit and begin to count one after the other all the good things God has done for you, you may not be able to realize how good and gracious God is to you.
Psalm 103 mentions some of the benefits we receive from God, (verse 2) “Bless the Lord, O my soul and forget not all His benefits, who forgive all your sins, who heal all your diseases, which redeem your life from destruction…”
People of God as we can see, God deserves our worship and praise if truly this God is good. As we go to His presence this morning, open a Baptist Hymnal to 318, meditate, and sing to appreciate the King of Kings and the Lord of lords. Prepare to go to the house of God today with a heart of thanksgiving, surely your victory is certain.
4. Admonition to Praise God (Psalm 117)
“Praise the Lord, all you nations. Praise Him all you people of the earth.” Vs 1
Do you believe that our God deserves praise? There are many reasons for you to offer Him praise. Praise Him for His love toward you. He loves you with unfailing love. His love is unchanging even in changing situations. His love is unconditional, not because you love Him.
Praise God for His faithfulness. Have you ever thought of that day you would have been reduced to zero but God turned you into a hero? Each second of the day tells about the faithfulness of God. This also is enough to praise Him.
You can still praise God for what He is having in store for you. I know the thought I have for you, is of good and not of evil, says the Lord. The admonition today is to praise God for that better plan and future God is having for you.
Praise Him always, anytime, any day. It is a fantasy to say you have praised God enough, you cannot, your being alive is to declare His praise. (1 Peter 2: 9)
5. God Is Our Victory (Psalm 46: 8-11)
“God makes wars cease to the ends of the earth, He breaks the bows and shatters the spear, He burns the shield with fire”. Vs 9
We shall be considering God as our victory. Wars and destruction are inevitable in society; the devil is just spreading it here and there. Enemies are just making a mess of destiny and there are battles here and there. Beloved, what kind of battle are you facing now?
Your victory is certain because God is there to give you victory. For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the only victory that has overcome the world. Who is it that overcomes the world?
Only a person who believes in Jesus Christ is the Son of God” (1 John 5: 4-5). Can you hear that only he believes in the Son of God because he overcame the power of darkness through the cross? The only thing that can alter it is if Jesus has not been crucified but it has been done already. So, your victory is sure, you just have faith and claim it.
Friends, most importantly, let us praise Him and His Majesty. He will be impressed to give total victory forever. It is with you.
6. Praise God for God’s Justice (Psalm 146: 1-10)
“I will praise the Lord all my life; I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.” Vs 2
We live in a society characterized by hostility, oppression, and injustice, a world where the poor suffer at the hands of the rich and are sometimes dispossessed of their possessions without anyone to vindicate them.
At various levels in our society, there have been cases where judicial authority has been exercised falsely and unjustly, having regard for the highly placed at the expense of the poor.
In a society where justice and concern for the helpless are uncertain, believers should rest their cases in the hands of the Almighty God who guarantees true justice.
The secret of David is that he sang a hymn of praise to God. We should be able to state why absolute trust in human beings will end in futility and the reasons why we need to totality rely on God for justice and compassion.
