God made living and non-living things, all the animals and the plants, the lights and waters were all made. God finally made man, but He was not done, then God made the woman. He created the woman especially. He made her from the ribs of the man. (Genesis 2:22). Thus, God made human beings, both male and female(Genesis 1:27,5:2). God making woman from the rib of the man shows that there is a connection between both.
God wants them to become one flesh. That means God wants them to be friends, and companions, and to work together. This is seen in the statement made by Adam after he had been created, ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called “Woman” for she was taken out of Man'(Genesis 2:23).
God would have been happy for Adam to recognise Eve as part of him. This is a basis for every relationship. God wants children to be friendly with one another. They should play together, help one another and be there for others in their time of need. God made human beings male and female, and He wants them to have a good relationship with each other.
After the creation of man and woman in Genesis chapter 1, God pronounced his blessing on them in verse 28.”And God blessed them. God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply….”Having blessed them to be fruitful and to multiply, means an increase in blessings and kinds, the man and his woman have the responsibility to live together as one with their children. When they are one, they will please God and fulfil His will for their union. When a man lives happily with his wife, God’s blessing will surely be upon them. So, this is the will of God that they prosper and are blessed.
The blessing of God is upon every family. This is so because it was the will of God for people to make families that will go on to fulfil the purpose of God for which they were made. As we have godly families, so also, we have ungodly families. These ungodly families fulfil the desires of their father, the Devil. They promote evil things in society. They also produced disrespectful and disobedient children, liars, thieves, thugs, and children who did not love the LORD.
However, God wants His children to show forth His life in them. They are lights in the world, and people should see their godly characters. These characters are revealed in the fruit of the Spirit. Anyone who is born again has the Spirit of God in him or her. And the Holy Spirit in that person helps the person to produce characteristics such as love, joy, peace, kindness, goodness, endurance, self- control, etc.(Galatians 5:22).
Thus, if you are from the family of God, you are expected to resemble your Father, God and possess godly character. But if one is from an ungodly family, they cannot fulfil the purpose of God for establishing marriage and family until they come to Christ. A mango tree cannot produce oranges; likewise, an orange tree cannot produce mango. So, you take after the one who gave birth to you.
The question is, who is your father? God or the Devil? If you have not given your life to Christ, this is the right time. Then, confess those sins one after the other to God. Tell Him that you cannot save yourself from sin. Accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. Ask the Holy Spirit to begin to live in you, and your life will bring forth the fruits of the Spirit mentioned above.
Be determined to make your family the best for God. Live in harmony with your family members and give them peace of mind. Be sure that you have a good attitude and obey your parents and older ones. Everyone represents their family in one way or another. So do not give your family bad names.
“The LORD God said,’ It is not good that the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.” Genesis 2:18
God created the earth for a purpose. He made all the animals, plants, lights, and water. He also created the man and woman. Thus, God made human beings, both male and female (Genesis 1:27,5:2). Godmademan and woman so that they can relate with each other. God wants us to connect in love and unity. He wants to expand through procreation so that His name will be glorified and His people He has created can live happily, You are made to live in love and joy with others, especially your family, And when we live happily and in love, God will bless us.
The Bible speaks about family and marriage on several occasions, And several Bible passages show us how God wants families and marriages to look. Let’s look at what the Bible says about family and marriage.
One Man, One Woman: That is why a man will leave his father and mother and is united to his wife, and they become one flesh (Genesis 2:24).
God’s ideal for a family is written throughout the Bible and has not changed since the beginning. His ideal is the coming together of one man and woman. This is also mentioned in the New Testament as well (Matthew 19:5; Ephesians 5:31), where the Bible says a man will leave his father and mother and be united with his wife. Therefore, the Bible only recognises the marriage of one man and one woman. Another thing outside of this is a human’s idea.
Family Is Responsibility: Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as you do to the Lord…Husbands love their wives, just as Christ loved the Church and gave himself up for her(Ephesians 5:22-25). Children are responsible for obeying, Ephesians 6:1 to honour, Ephesians 6:2.Exodus 20:12, and fear their parents Leviticus 19:3.The Bible is clear about each responsibility. And you must be committed to doing them.
Command to Be Obeyed. God commanded the man to love his wife and wife to respect her husband. This command must be obeyed to enjoy God’s blessing for the family and yourselves.
Family Is Companionship: The LORD God said, It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him (Genesis 2:18). He found it right not to leave the man alone. Instead, He brought a woman to keep him company, which later formed their family. An individual can be alone. However, it is better to have someone with whom they spend time. So, they are to play together, eat together, help each other, support each other etc.
Family Is Founded on Unity: In marriage, the couples are no longer two people but one Genesis 2:18-25. Therefore, God desires that as two individuals who have come together, they should relate well, work as a team and do God’s assignment.
Family Should Be Honourable: Marriage should be honoured by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral (Hebrews 13:4). Family members should conduct themselves so that people around them will respect and love to build a family like theirs.
Family Should Be Joyful: Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love…(Ecclesiastes 9:9). Everyone must decide to make the house an unfriendly, happy place by not being too critical, not excessively comparing, and not condemning.
Family Involves Love and Submission: Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit everything to their husbands. Husbands love their wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her(Ephesians 5:24-25). To make any family work, the husband must be devoted and show sincere love to the wife and the children. And the wife should respect and care for the family. And children are to obey their parents as unto the Lord. These are the commandments of God.
